SPECTRUM LIVE CO- SPONSORED CONTEST WITH THE ILLUSTRATION ACADEMY
Kansa City, Missouri - Spectrum Fantastic Art Live will be co-sponsoring a young artist-focused art contest along with the Kansas City-based Illustration Academy. The contest is open to currently enrolled high school students and continuing education students. Prizes include full tuition to The Illustration Academy, Three Week Workshop and 4-Week High School Art Clinics.

Submissions must be received by April 30, 2014. Winners will be announced at the Spectrum Fantastic Art Awards Ceremony at the Midland Theater in downtown Kansas City, Missouri on May 10.
Spectrum Fantastic Art Live will take place May 9-11 in the Grand Ballroom of Bartle Hall in Kansas City, MO. It is an out growth of Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, the award-winning and internationally renowned art book series established by Overland Park residents Cathy and Arnie Fenner in 1993. The prestigious Museum of American Illustration in New York City has hosted two exhibitions dedicated to Spectrum, shattering museum special-event attendance records.

C. F. Payne at The Illustration Academy
C.F. Payne graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a BFA. Early in his career, he attended the first Illustrators Workshop, which had a significant influence on his work. He worked in illustration studios in Akron, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois for several years. In 1980, he began his career as a freelance illustrator, and has developed an impressive client list, including Time, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, Esquire, GQ, National Geographic, Spy, NFL, U.S. Postal Service, and others.
Chris will be here in June to join Gary Kelley, Anita Kunz, Jon Foster, Mark English, George Pratt, and John English for Illustration Academy 2014.

Art Connection Academy has four picture making seminars, each a month-long, beginning the first week of each month. We developed these four-week long seminars because we wanted to offer artists an affordable opportunity to develop a background with the fundamentals of picture making. Each seminar is held once a week for a three-hour session. The scheduling information for each seminar is listed in detail with each seminar below. Enrollment for each of these seminars is still open!
